Signing access

Recover a missing browser signing key or retry an unreadable key status.

If Chain says this device needs a signing key, the saved browser key is missing or does not match the key registered to your Smart Vault. First check the owner account and the current key status.

  1. Sign in with the Smart Vault’s owner wallet and open My Smart Vault.
  2. If the key cannot be checked, use Retry and wait. Do not replace a key solely because its status is unreadable.
  3. If the app confirms that a new key is needed, choose its signing-key setup action. Review the request in your owner wallet before approving it.
  4. Wait for registration to finish and for the app to confirm that this browser has the registered signing key. Then return to the game.

A replacement updates the existing vault and may replace another device’s play key. It does not create another vault. For the difference between owner authority and browser play access, see browser signing access.

Check the same signing-key change before starting another. An unknown result, missing hash, or network error is not proof that registration failed. See pending actions.

A sponsored-change limit applies to the current account and period. Follow the displayed reset time or use the offered option to pay gas, if available. If the app cannot check the allowance, retry that check rather than assuming the allowance is zero.

The signing key could not be checked. Should I connect a new one?

Section titled “The signing key could not be checked. Should I connect a new one?”

Use Retry in the account page or Smart Vault dialog and wait for the check. An unreadable status does not prove that the key is missing. If the check keeps failing, contact support with the visible message and public wallet address before replacing the key.

This browser needs a new signing key. What should I do?

Section titled “This browser needs a new signing key. What should I do?”

Sign in with the Smart Vault’s owner wallet and open My Smart Vault. If the key cannot be checked, use Retry first. Only when the app confirms that a new key is needed should you choose its signing-key setup action and approve the request.

A replacement updates the existing vault’s authorized play key and may replace another device’s key. Wait for registration to finish and for the app to show that this browser has the registered key. If the change is unconfirmed, check that attempt before starting another. Never share a signing key or owner-wallet secret.

The app says the signer does not match or is unauthorized. What next?

Section titled “The app says the signer does not match or is unauthorized. What next?”

Check that the connected wallet owns this Smart Vault. If Chain confirms a missing or mismatched key, follow its signing-key setup action. If a previous key change is still unconfirmed, check that attempt first. For an out-of-sync session, reconnect and check the existing action before starting another. See browser signing access for replacement effects and pending actions for uncertain results.
